Audiomica - Erys Excellence
RCA interconnect
Erys Excellence is a high model in the hierarchy of the Polish manufacturer from Gorlice. Excellence cables occupy the third position on the podium next to the Ultra Reference and the flagship Consequence series. The interconnect is made of a single Solid-Core conductor made of monocrystalline 6N copper in the OCC technological process. Teflon organofluorine dielectric FEP, which is used in the cable, effectively insulates against the electromagnetic field, balancing the external field.
In addition, a multi-layer screen was used, consisting of two aluminum foils and three copper braids set in the opposite direction to each other. The use of antistatic POM-C AP50 connectors provides protection against static electrical changes. Audiomica equipped Erys with proprietary plugs (RCA) AML-ACP-RCA10 Rh, which have a DCP silver conductive surface subjected to demagnetization and an antistatic housing with a white socket screwed with a non-magnetic screw. The technologically complicated production process is to ensure the most accurate, perfectly isolated signal inside the conductor, which provides a more faithful sound reproduction.
For the Erys test, a split Naim system consisting of the NAP 250 DR power amplifier and the NAC 282 preamplifier was used. The power supply was provided by dedicated Naim Hi-Cap DR power supplies with ALLBIT Consequence cable and NAPSC connected by NESS Excellence. As a source of lossless files in FLAC and WAV format from a PC, the digital-to-analog converter RME Adi 2 DAC FS was used. The DAC was connected to the computer via the Startech ST-7200 USBM 2.0 HUB powered by an external Harman Kardon 18V / 3.33A power supply via the HP Monster USB-700 cable. The converter worked in the NOS mode (without over-sampling) in the Windows 10 operating system environment with the Foobar2000 software player in the ASIO mode. The KEF LS50 columns used in the test were set at a distance of 2 meters from each other and 0.5 meters from the back wall with diffusing diffusers. The KEFs were stably mounted on DynamiDuo stands filled with lead (Atacama Atibiter SMD), set on spikes, which were in direct contact with 1.5mm thick marble slabs. The loudspeaker cable accompanying the test was the highest model Audiomica Miamen Consequence (banana/swords). The whole system was plugged into the Tacoma IFI-23 power conditioner, which was additionally protected by the APC P1-UK Essential SurgeArrest 1 power protection.
Sound
The harmonious duo of connecting the Erys Excellence interconnect with the previously reviewed Miamen Consequence speaker cable (read the Miamen review) provided a lot of dynamic and rich in timbre sound. Erys splendidly added shine to the strong Miamen with which it perfectly complemented. The Interconnect is sonically well-balanced, with a slight bias towards brightness. Bass is geared towards quality, firmness and speed with a balance of raw clean energy and balanced dynamics. The band's extremes are well rendered, where the contours of the bass instruments sound great. The midrange delivers clear information with fantastic-sounding vocals that realistically bring an emotional message to the stage. You can hear the power of the vocal cords of the vocalist, who does not lack scale or character. The virtual sources are illuminated and well presented against the background of the background, which is very legible. The drum snare refines the rhythm with a technically clean hi-hat and decisively brilliant-sounding accents of the percussion cymbals. Instruments such as bells, triangles and cymbals sparkle with expressive colors that add brilliance to each song. Erys is restrained and does not lack captivating charm. The sound delivered via this cable is lively, decisive and full of details while maintaining nobility and class. Erys Excellence combined with Miamen speaker cables provided high-class sound with a clean multi-colored bass that I had not discovered before in KEFs. The bass coming out of the small LS50s was strong, decisive, fast and fantastically differentiated. The low tones provided such a large scale and dynamics that I subconsciously checked whether the subwoofer was turned off.
