Harman Kardon GO + Play is a portable stereo speaker that acts as a docking station for iPods, iPhones with a 30-pin Apple connector. The control takes place via a player connected to the station, and a neat remote control, placed in a specially designed compartment at the back. The GO + PLAY docking station is equipped with a metal handle made of stainless steel, emphasizing the unusual appearance of the device, and a container for 8 batteries on the bottom. On the back of the device there is a USB type B output for connecting the device with a computer, and a 3.5mm AUX mini-jack for external players without a dedicated Apple connector. The front and back of the device look very twin, with metal grilles on both sides of the device, mistakenly suggesting the use of speakers that are not on the back. The GO + Play features four front-mounted 30 Watt drivers, two 3 ”mid-bass woofers, and two tweeters controlled by separate amplifiers in a Bi-Amp configuration. The aforementioned grilles on the back cover the bass-reflex port on one side, and the metal cover on the other is purely decorative.

Sound

The Harman Kardon sound is powerful, dynamic with a clearly emphasized bassline that boasts a low flare, near 40 Hz, from two 8cm woofers. The midrange is slightly withdrawn and harmonizes quite well with the treble, which has a metallic color. There is no talk of the quality of timbre known from systems with audiophile pedigree, Harman opted for color-coded sound, which provides fun for the masses of recipients targeting electronic and club music genres. The bass is the drive of the musical spectacle that GO + PLAY serves, the rest of the frequency range is slightly to the rear. Harman will not even provide a substitute for the emotional timbre of vocals and instruments, his attention is focused on strength and showy delivery of a simple colored sound that may be liked by many. The assumption is simple, it should be colorful and decisive, with no place to listen to nuances that we will not hear anyway.
