Velodyne - CHT 10 QR Subwoofer
Velodyne is an American company from California, founded in 1983 by David Hall, producing subwoofers that are used in stereo audio equipment and home theater. Velodyne Acoustics is one of the pioneers in bass system technology, which has earned it recognition all over the world. Produced by the American Velodyne, the subwoofers are combined with the latest digital technology, and compatible with the most modern devices available on the market. The CHT-10 is the basic Velodyne offer in the mid-price range, where we can choose from 4 models of different sizes (CHT-8Q 10Q, 12Q and 15Q). The standard CHT-10Q box weighing as much as 25 kg with dimensions (H 406mm / W 381mm / D 464mm) is not very stylistically made.
On the front there is a rounded panel module made with a frequency to confirm the device with a digital display and a grille under which there is a 10 "bass transducer. Enclosure for construction with a slotted bass-reflex, located just below the front part. In addition to the speaker on the right side of the mini-jack port that supports the microphone to calibrate the device and on the left side of the receiver for the remote control. Velodyne as one of the supplied ranks of custom and modern features to help you go ahead of the competition. Anyone who had a subwoofer in their composition remembering how many times they had to get up from the couch or armchair by controlling and setting the bass. Velodyne goes a step further by adding a remote control that, together with a microphone for calibrating activities, facilitates and speeds up the adoption of the device in the listening room. The built-in digital display uses amplification, and the functions sewn into the remote control facilitate instant jumping between separate modes for one of the 6 devices (Movies, R&B, Rock, Jazz, Classics, Games). The different modes differ in their boost and cutoff frequencies. As a standard, on the side wall of the housing there is a sheet metal control panel and device settings, which covers the electronics of the housing inside. The heart of the device is the height of the worker working in class D with a continuous power of 195W and 390W peak. The subwoofer has 4 phase inversions (0, 90, 180, 270) and, like DSP programs, their setting is possible only with the passage of the remote control.
Sound
The Velodyne CHT-10QR delivers a strong, juicy bass that is rich in detail. The frequency of descent down to 25 Hz can sound solid with good speed and noticeable power. The quality of the low frequencies served by the CHT-10 is at a high level. The bass sounds do not blend together and have the right strength of the message. It is not an earthquake underfoot, but at higher volume levels where the bass goes quite low, it can make us feel its presence not only in the ears but also on the skin. Listening to Velodyne, I would say that the low-frequency culture and quality of REL subwoofers is preserved, combined with the attack power of B&W. Let's not assume that we will get such abundant power as SVS or Klipsch, but a fairly well-balanced proportion between feeling the pleasant flavors combined with the right strength.
